SAINT-BASIL’S CATHEDRAL

St. Basil Cathedral - the centerpiece of the Red Square and one of the most famous landmarks of Russia. It was constructed in 1561 by the order of the first Russian tsar Ivan the Terrible in the memory of victory on Kazan’s Khanat. Today you may visit St. Basil Cathedral as the museum and see its unique wall paintings, impressive collection of ancient Russian icon painting and masterpieces of ecclesiastical applied art. Our company can also organize private excursions and tasting sessions of Russian tea from samovar with pies for the visitors of St. Basil Cathedral for maximum 30 pax.

KREMLIN (TERRITORY AND CATHEDRALS)

Visit one of the most well-known sights of Moscow – the Kremlin with its red brick walls and 20 towers holding their own unique history. Since its first construction in 1156 as a wooden fortress by the order of Grand Duke Yuri Dolgoruky, it has been rebuilt several times. The current appearance was formed in 1495 by the best architects of Russia and Italy. Today Kremlin is the residence of Russian President and the main symbol of the country, revered by all of its citizens.

RED SQUARE WALKING TOUR

Even if you have seen this place and its landmarks dozens of times, it will be a breathtaking experience to see it in real life. During the walking tour, you will have the time to take pictures of this 73,000 square meters brick-paved square surrounded by the Kremlin Walls, Lenin’s Tomb, St Basil’s Cathedral, Resurrection gate, GUM superstore and the Russian State Historical Museum. Turn to the left, and find yourself in one of the oldest urban public parks in Moscow - Alexander Garden. TRETYAKOV GALLERY

The State Tretyakov Gallery was founded in 1856 by the merchant and patron of the arts Pavel Tretyakov to display the works of Russian artists. It holds the richest collection (more than 150 000 works) of Russian painters and sculptors from the 18th and 19th centuries like Brullov, Kiprensky, Aivazovsky, Ivanov or Repin, as well as the finest collection of Russian icons. Among the treasures of the gallery are “Morning in a pine forest” by Shishkin, “Alyonushka” by Vasnetsov, “Ivan the terrible and his son Ivan” by Repin and many others.

DONSKOY MONASTERY

Donskoy monastery is one of the most revered Orthodox shrines of Moscow. One of the oldest capital’s monasteries, it was built in 1591 to in honor of the miraculous Donskaya icon of the Mother of God, which, as people believed, protected Moscow from the invasion of the Crimean Tatars. In years it became the most influential, the privileged and rich monasteries of the county. Here was secretly baptized the daughter of Stalin, many outstanding figures in political and military history, literature and art are buried in its necropolis, and here are stored the Holy relics, which attract Orthodox pilgrims from all over Russia.

TRINITY LAVRA OF ST. SERGIUS

Founded in 1337, the Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is the most important attraction of Sergiev Posad and is the biggest Ortodox Monastery in Russia. During the tour you will have a walk around its vast territory and discover the set of ancient buildings: Holy Trinity Cathedral, Assumption cathedral, The Church of St. Zosima and Savvaty Solovetsky – the total amount is more then 50! The Trinity lavra was a witness of many historical events, from the baptism of Ivan the Terrible to the war in XVII century against Polish-Lithuanian troop in which 3.000 people fought against 30.000 warriors and won the war. KREMLIN AND SAINT EUTHYMIUS MONASTERY

Today you will visit two attractions that are both listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites from 1992. The Sudzal Kremlin dates to 10th century and from that time inside it lived all the most influential people. Here you will admire: The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral – with wonderful frescos, The Archbishops Chambers, and museums - exhibitions of History of Suzdal and Ancient Russian Painting. After that we will move to the Monastery of Saint Euthymius, it is a really old monastery in which you will visit: The Transfiguration of Our Savior Сathedral- The main temple which has wonderful frescos inside, The Assumption Church, the Museum of modern Russian Folk Art and the exhibit of the monastery’s prison history which has been used in 18th century and then during the soviet time.

DORMITION CATHEDRAL AND ST. DIMITRIY CATHEDRAL

Both Cathedral are listed in UNESCO World Heritage List sites, being a part of White Monuments of Vladimir and Suzdal. For first you will visit the “Dormition Cathedral” which has been the most important and the largest Church of Russia during Medieval period. This place is full of history, from the resistance to the Mongol attack, to the crowing ceremonies that were placed here. You will admire the decorations and frescos inside the Church. The St. Dimitry Cathedral was built in 12th century and restored in 1952. Inside you will see beautiful frescos but the most attractive part of the Cathedral is its exterior which is well decorated and partially covered by carvings.

PETER AND PAUL FORTRESS

Peter and Paul Fortress is the place of birth of Saint Petersburg, here began the foundation of this beautiful city. Today it is home to several museums, which exhibit to everyone the splendid history of Saint-Petersburg’s foundation and growth. Here you may visit main museums like the Peter and Paul cathedral – the tallest building in the city center and the burial place of members of the Imperial family – the Grand Ducan Mausoleum, the Boat house, the Artillery Armory, the Mint, Engineering and Commandant's house, guardhouse and many others. The fortress also used to be a political prison as you may see during a visit to its casemates, in the XIX in became the main political prison of Russia.


SAINT-ISAAC'S CATHEDRAL

St. Isaac's Cathedral is the largest church in Saint-Petersburg. Its construction took 40 years, and today it remains one of the most impressive buildings in the city center. Inside the cathedral, which also holds services, you may visit an exhibition telling the incredible story of its construction, represented with the authentic historical documents, plans and models. You will be impressed by its magnificent interior

KAZAN CATHEDRAL

The Kazan Cathedral was built in 1811 and is usually associated with Russia’s victory over Napoleon in 1812. Its monumental construction was designed in Russian classical style, but it also carries resemblance to great St. Paul cathedral in Rome. Such resemblance was made on purpose – emperor Pavel the First wanted his city to be close to stylish Italy. All 96 columns of cathedral look at the Nevsky Street and greet people walking in the center of Saint Petersburg with its elegant beauty. Museum, which is situated inside of the cathedral, displays many relics from the Patriotic war, including banners and the heart of Field-Marshal Kutuzov. You are guaranteed to see these relics as well as spectacular Orthodox Church services. Moreover, the small park near the cathedral is the finest place to feed little birds from your hand and blend with locals.

ALEXANDER NEVSKY LAVRA

The biggest male monastery in the city greets you on the western border of Nevsky street. Rumors say that this monastery was built by Peter the Great himself. Now open for tourists, you may visit the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and the Church of the Annunciation – two outstanding examples of the Russian architecture of the 18th century. The Alexander Nevsky Lavra is also famous for its cemeteries where eminent Russians like Tchaikovsky and Dostoevsky are buried.

ST. NICHOLAS NAVAL CATHEDRAL

St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral is one of the fine examples of the Russian baroque architecture with golden domes and spires shining under the Saint-Petersburg sky. It’s a home of number of 18-century icons and fine carved wooden iconostasis. It’s bell tower designed in white, blue and gold overlooks on Krykov canal and shows you a beautiful view on the center of the city. The church itself was built by the order of Empress Elizabeth who wished the sailors district of the city to have its own sacred place.
